How did you find your way into this profession? And where did you take your first steps?
I attended a woodworking high school, and then I worked for a wood company for 15 years. My biggest hobby was painting; it was my passion to make copies of old master’s works. I prepared the stretched canvas by myself. When working for a wood company ended, I was forced to find a new way to do something new, and after some time, I got an idea: to prepare stretched canvas for other painters. So this is a very interesting connection between my hobby of painting and my apprenticeship in the woodworking area: to use all my knowledge and make professionally stretched canvases.

Where do you get the wood and fabric from?
I use wood from Slovakia’s forests and fabric from Europe’s producers only.

How big is your warehouse?
This year will be my 15th anniversary when I started to make stretched canvas, so year by year is increasing.

Which artists have you already worked with? Also, which ones are from Austria?
I have a few artists in Austria, but I want to be discreet about this question.

What was the biggest canvas you ever built and covered?
The biggest stretched canvas that I’ve made was 3×6 m for a Slovakian artist, and the biggest frame was 3×8 m for one Slovakian gallery.

How many canvases have you stretched in your life?
This is uncountable.

I imagine it’s inspiring. Is viewing your workplace also possible?
I have a small workshop where I make frames. Most of my stretched canvases are prepared right in artists‘ studios because I am focused mostly on the biggest canvases.

What products do you offer?
Most of my production is stretched canvas. I provide services for artists, like preparing paintings before exhibitions; sometimes I frame paintings and make wood boxes for the transport of paintings.

How long is the delivery time, and how does it function?
Usually 7 or 10 days; it depends on how big the order is. Since I am focused on making the biggest canvases, I prepare them in artists‘ studios.

What are you working on right now?
I am preparing new-shaped canvases for artists in Vienna and a new order from my new customer from West Austria right now.
