Mifuu Oda. Artist from Osaka

Mifuu Oda was born in 1997, graduated in 2020 from Osaka University of the Arts, Department of Art Planning. Mifuu Oda is a young artist who works on the symbolic image of a “girl” with shades of acrylic paint. By multiplying the abstract expression by touching the painting knife and mixing the colors, she expresses the fluid fluctuation of the girl’s heart and her own world of colors.

When did your love for art begin?
I have had an interest in art since I was a little girl and I developed my technique over the years. For 3 years I have been using acrylic colors for my paintings.

Where do you find inspiration?
I am inspired by everyday emotions, fun, happiness, sadness, the beautiful colors of the sky and flowers, and the scents in our lives.

What is the most challenging part of your work?
I use acrylic paints, and since I am trying to make the paint smooth, I need to finish it before it dries. So it is very difficult because if I stop my hand for a while, the paint will dry.

What other particular things influence your work?
I love the cute girls in Japanese anime and manga, so my painting style is influenced by them.

How would you describe yourself?
I express myself by projecting myself into the girls‘ drawings. With the touch of the painting knife, the gradation of colors, and the way I apply the matiere of paint, I express the fluidity of the mind and emotions, the fragility and strength of a girl’s heart.

What plans do you have?
So far, I have mainly exhibited in Japan, so I would like to challenge myself to exhibit overseas and have a solo exhibition in the future. I also dream of collaborating with great artists and musicians.
