The realization of how forms can be increasingly structured is something that the artist has only embraced in the last few years. There is a saying that with years of practice, physical activities become more effortless both mentally and physically, as if our body memory could perform complex and difficult movements devoid of the conscious control of the mind. Recently inspired by the book „The Art of the Archery“ by Eugen Herrigel, the artist has been thinking about the influence of Zen on artistic creation. Especially about reaching the state of balance between the body and the mind – letting go of yourself, leaving yourself and everything yours behind you so decisively, that nothing more is left of you but a purposeless tension. Also, the right mind for creating can only be achieved when the preparing and the creating, the technical and the artistic, the material and the spiritual, the project and the object, are all flowing together without any interruption.
Kalina Horon (1992, Poland, lives and works in Vienna) graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow. From 2014–2016 she studied in Vienna in the class of Daniel Richter and then Brigitte Kowanz.
